Joseph Christensen Obituary

Joseph Martin Christensen

Joseph Martin Christensen, 61, died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his home in Chisholm, Minn.

He was born in Detroit Lakes, Minn., on March 14, 1964, to Hall and Marjorie (Gibbon) Christensen. Joe was raised in Lake Park, Minn., and graduated from high school there. He attended the University of MN Crookston where he attained his associate's degree in agriculture. Joe then moved to Hawley, Minn., where he started his family before moving to Chisholm, where they planted their roots. Joe enjoyed carpentry, as he owned and operated Christensen Carpentry. His passion for building and woodworking was evident in detail to every project, from birdhouses, furniture pieces, cabinets and everything in between. His work was exceptional, as the attention to detail made it an art. He enjoyed going back home to hunt and be with his family. Joe loved nature, sunshine, and exploring the world God put in front of him. One of his greatest passions was his connection with his lord and savior. His family, faith, woodworking, and active involvement with AA were the things he cherished.

Joseph is survived by his children: Ryan (Jordan) Christensen, Rachel (Brandyn) Christensen; former wife Theresa Dobson; Siblings: Michael (Mary Ann) Christensen, LuAnne (Wayne) Larson, Nancy (Greg) Bentley, Eva (Bill) Brakefield, Yvonne (Ken) Grindall, Mary (Rich) Veit, Tim (Cory) Christensen, Vincent (Kristina) Christensen, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and bother Jon Christensen.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held at a later date near his hometown.
