Joseph Coccio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molden Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service on Aug. 31, 2025.
Joseph L. Coccio, Sr., age 90, of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Born in Brockton, PA, on March 9, 1935, he was the son of Guido and Emma (Pacelli) Coccio. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jeanne, whom he deeply missed since her passing in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Philip, Albie, and Guido, and his sisters Rosemarie, Jeanina, Louise, and MaryJane.

He is survived by his three loving children, who he often reminded how proud he was of them: Janet Coccio Klein (Michael), Joseph Coccio Jr. (Kheng), and James Coccio (Sally). He was the cherished grandfather of Michael Coccio (Beth), Anthony Coccio (Felyshia), Nicholas Coccio (Gabby), and Jennifer Burns, and the adoring great-grandfather of Santina, Nora, Jack, Tommy, and one more on the way this November. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, where he was a Flyweight boxer with a 15–2 record, a paratrooper, and a cook. Following his service, he carried with him a strong work ethic, an active lifestyle, and a gift for making people laugh.

Those who knew Joe will remember a man who loved being active and embracing life to the fullest. Whether it was bowling three times a week, swimming in the ocean, cheering on his beloved Phillies, reading the paper and magazines, enjoying good restaurants, or heading to the casinos and bus trips with his longtime companion of 11 years, Phyllis, Joe never slowed down. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, who were always the center of his world. With his humor, warmth, and countless stories and jokes, Joe had a way of making everyone feel like family from the moment they met him.

He will be deeply missed but forever celebrated for his love, laughter, and the joy he brought to so many lives.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Molden Funeral Chapel, 133 Otter St., Bristol, PA 19007, followed by military honors.

In pop's honor, if you choose, we ask to trade the somber black for Phillies gear because even at life's 9th inning, pop believed that life and baseball should be celebrated!

Joe was one of my best Buddies I had in our Senior Bowling League; I never met a man more kind and caring then Joe; I could be having my worst day ever, and all I had to do was walk up to him and his kind words and witty humor would cure that bad day instantly! I will always treasure our conversations and his friendship forever!

I will miss him terribly! May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord. Love and miss you Joe.
