Joseph "Joe" A. Craft, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at Harry Hines Memorial Hospice at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Joe was born on August 16, 1936, in Dalton, Kansas, to Bernard and Alice (Harris) Craft. He grew up in Dalton, attended school there, and after completing his education, worked for the railroad before starting his family.
Joe met the love of his life, Louise Miller, and they were united in marriage on May 25, 1957, at the Sheridan County Courthouse in
Hoxie, Kansas. They shared 49 years of marriage and built a life rooted in love, hard work, and devotion to family. Hoxie remained their home throughout their lives.
Joe and Louise were blessed with three daughters: Felicia, Patricia, and Denise. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time with his family and took great pride in providing for them.
He worked for and retired from the Sheridan County Road and Bridge Department. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed bird watching, working on puzzles, watching trains, playing dominos, and especially visiting casinos. Above all, he loved life and appreciated its simple pleasures.
Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise; his parents, Bernard and Alice; and daughter, Denise Craft.
He is survived by his daughters, Felicia Fowler and husband David of Hamilton, Kansas, and Patricia Nelson of
Hoxie, Kansas; sister, Liz Weber of Wellington, Kansas; grandchildren, Becky Rogers (Steven), Amanda Brown, Joshua Fowler, Cameron Nelson and Kalli Briney (Adrian); great-grandchildren, Joseph Brown, Luke Rogers, and Zoey Rogers; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Joe will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and quiet dedication to those he loved. His legacy of love, faithfulness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Hoxie City Cemetery.
