Joseph Edwin Crenshaw, 56, of Canon City, CO and formerly of Bertrand, MO, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, September 26, 2025, in Nappanee, IN.

Born December 9, 1968, at Sikeston, MO, to the late Richard V. Crenshaw and Penelope M. "Penny" Taylor Crenshaw, Joe was a 1987 graduate of Kelly High School near Benton, MO. After high school, he would embark on a long and dedicated career in the United States Army, having been awarded a bronze star for his service in Afghanistan and Iraq. Following his discharge from the Army, he became an over the road truck driver.

Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, service, cherished memories and inside jokes. Joe was a vibrant individual who lived life to the fullest. He had a contagious sense of humor and loved to joke with friends, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. When he wasn't spending time with loved ones, Joe could often be found hitting the open road on his motorcycle.

As a truck driver, he traveled extensively, but no matter where his journeys took him, he had a gift of making friends everywhere he went. His charismatic personality and kind heart earned him countless buddies across the country. He was always eager to share stories of his adventures with those around him.

Joe was the type of person who would go out of his way to lend a helping hand, always putting others before himself. His selflessness and kindness inspired countless people, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

As a veteran, Joseph demonstrated courage, commitment, and selflessness, inspiring others by his example. His dedication to his country and those around him is a testament to his character.

To friends and family, Joseph was affectionately known as "Chief" and "The MF Hammer," nicknames that reflected his strong leadership and unwavering presence and a few more of those inside jokes.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him, remembered for his zest for life, his quick wit, and his unwavering loyalty.

Joe is survived by his son, Brent Crenshaw; his sister, Tina Crenshaw Withrow and her husband, Jimmy Withrow; his niece, Ashley Withrow; as well as a number of cousins.

Family and friends may assemble for committal services with full military honors, at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Interment will follow.
