Joseph Daniel

Joseph Daniel, a cherished son of Vidalia, Georgia, was born on November 20, 1932. He peacefully passed away on December 28, 2024, in Byron Georgia, at the age of 92. He has left behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and humor, traits that endeared him to many throughout his long and illustrious life. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, 2:00 PM at Northview Cemetery.
Joseph was a proud alum of Dublin High School, class of 1950, and furthered his education at the University of Georgia. His path then led him to serve his country with distinction in the United States Army during the Korean War, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. After his military service, Joseph dedicated 40 years to civil service at Robins Air Force Base, evidencing his unwavering commitment to the betterment of his community and nation.
Joseph's life was a testament to his faith as a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Dublin, GA. He later served as an usher at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Macon, GA and ending this testament at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins, GA.
His service extended beyond his religious community; Joseph was also a devoted board member of The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), of Central Georgia, reflecting his compassionate and active engagement in vital community issues.
A man of varied interests, Joseph found joy and peace in the simple pleasures of life such as golf, hunting, fishing, and gardening. These passions were shared with his beloved family and numerous friends, who were central to his life and joy.
Joseph's legacy is celebrated by his loving spouse of 67 years, Karleen Daniel, who stood by his side through all of life's seasons. He is remembered with deep affection by his children: Derek Daniel of Byron, Christina "Tina" Daniel of Byron, Nan Daniel of Centerville, and Mark (Samantha) Daniel of Kathleen. His grandchildren, Seth Daniel, Cason (Jonathon) Eason, Sam Daniel, Courtney Daniel, and Raelyn Daniel, as well as great-grandchild Eli Eason, will fondly remember the warmth and joy their grandfather brought to gatherings. Joseph's family also extends to a host of nieces, nephews, and extended friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, George Currell Daniel and Nora Page Daniel, and siblings William "Bill" Daniel, Mary Daniel Bradwell, George Daniel, and Don Daniel, Joseph's passing marks the end of an era, but his spirit and values will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Joseph Daniel was a man of faith, family, and community. His life will be celebrated and his memory cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Central Georgia, to honor Joseph's legacy and commitment to mental health awareness.
