Joseph Earl Davis Jr., known affectionately as Joe, was born on December 14, 1944, and passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 12, 2025. He lived a life full of devotion to his family, and his proud accomplishments include being a dedicated father, grandfather, and a veteran who served honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 818th Engineer Battalion.
Joe graduated from Pleasant View High School in 1963 and went on to retire from the Columbus Convention Center in 2005. He had a passion for building race cars, and in the 80s spent many weekends racing them at the Columbus Motor Speedway. A true fan of his hero, Dale Earnhardt, Joe's love for sports extended beyond NASCAR to his unwavering support for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Columbus Blue Jackets, rarely missing a game on TV.
A handyman at heart, Joe was known for his ability to fix anything. His charming yet ornery personality brought joy and laughter to those around him, as he was fond of joking and made his friends and family feel cherished. He enjoyed his late wife, Marsha's cooking and decorating his front yard with inflatables for every holiday. Joe loved attending all of his grandchildren's school programs and sporting events, taking pride in their achievements and being a constant source of encouragement. Joe was also a proud member of the United Methodist Church in Grove City.
Joe leaves behind a loving family that includes his daughters, Jennifer S. (Frank) Schultz and Stephanie (Brian Harrah) Davis. He was a proud grandfather to Cory Commeans, Courtney Commeans, Hunter Schultz, and Mason Schultz, and a great-grandfather to Randy Campbell and Conrad Campbell.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marsha (Helwagen) Davis; father, Joseph Earl Davis Sr.; mother, Emma (Armentrout) Davis; and sisters, Shirley Stone and Patty Davis.

The family would like to thank Reverend Jones and the church for their unwavering friendship and support for Joe.
