Joseph Della Maria, Jr. Obituary
Joe grew up in the Sauganash neighborhood of Chicago and attended Queen of All Saints School. He attended high school at Loyola Academy and then went on to the University of Notre Dame where he studied English. While at Notre Dame, he was active in the Notre Dame Glee Club and was a member of the Blue Circle Honor Society. Joe studied law at the University of Notre Dame where he was the Lead Articles Editor of the Law Review. He then served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander and taught at the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island.
Joe married Martha Woodall on January 2, 1971, and they settled in Wayne, Illinois. He was an accomplished lawyer as a partner at Rothschild, Barry and Myers in Chicago and served on the Wayne Village Board for many years. An ardent Notre Dame football fan, he enjoyed hosting elaborate tailgate parties for his family and many friends. He is survived by his twin daughters, Laura (Dan) and Katie (Will), his sister Kate Weidner and six grandchildren Katie, Olivia, Max, Teddy, Gus, and Jack. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Martha.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Thursday, September 21, at Queen of All Saints Basilica.
