He quoted the words "there is no place like home" and Joseph Michael DeLuca born in Brooklyn, New York on February 11, 1947 peacefully returned home, to his Creator in his house with the loving care of his daughter Rebecca DeLuca, his ex wife of 47 years Barbara Tonkin DeLuca, niece Christine Tonkin and her daughter Bethany, nephew Daniel, love and support of his sister Antionette DeLuca and her spouse, his stepsister Jennifer DeLuca her spouse and son, his stepson Michael Wickham and his spouse, The VNA Hospice and with the careful watch of his companion dog Shorty on the afternoon of October 3, 2024. He is survived by these, multiple nieces, nephews and brother-in-law's and their spouses.
In the footsteps of his father he served our country and was a Veteran, a specialist 4th class in the army (medical division) and sharp shooter. Like his deceased father Joseph Peter DeLuca he was a hard and loyal worker and kind hearted man.
He worked for Terminal Freight Handling in New Jersey for over two decades. When he moved from New Jersey to Florida he was an aviation lineman at Vero Beach Airport. From those years of work in New Jersey he leaves behind two lifelong friends Larry Mondo and Garry Big G.
He received great joy from all music and the game of baseball. John Lennon's song Imagine and Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma were his favorites. His love for home and family echoed that of his deceased mother Stella, step mother Philomena, Louise and Vincent his grandparents, aunt Helen, aunt Anna, aunt Mary, uncle Nick, uncle Michael, uncle Nicky, uncle Carmine and uncle Louie.
He enjoyed the company and friendship of his deceased brother-in-laws Roger and Kim, their spouses and Fred and George who grieve him and their spouses.
He is loved, remembered and will be missed by many.
May he rest in light and peace.
