Joseph Daniel Ervin

Joseph Daniel Ervin, a beloved son, brother, grandson, and uncle passed away on September 19th, 2025 at his family's home in Greenville, North Carolina surrounded by loved ones. Born in Chicago, Illinois on January 24th, 1996 Joseph was the eldest of 8 children. He was just 29 years of age.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Smith Funeral Service from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Greenville Church of God from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in order to assist with the cost of funeral services.

Born into a family that cherishes learning and laughter, Joseph brought light into every room he entered. He possessed a brilliant mind and an insatiable curiosity that touched all who knew him. His intelligence was matched only by his radiant smile, which could brighten the darkest days and remind us of the goodness in the world.

A bright and witty presence, Joseph had a gift for making others laugh. His humor was kind, clever, and inclusive, drawing friends and family into moments of joy even in difficult times. He was cherished by many for his warmth, compassion, and the genuine interest he showed in others.

Joseph's family would like to honor his memory with gratitude for the years he shared with us - filled with love, laughter, and the countless small moments that meant so much. He lived with a quiet strength and a generous spirit, always eager to share a thoughtful word. He had recently sparked a love for learning demonstrated by his enthusiasm and dedication to the welding program at Pitt Community College.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Ervin and Elaine Ervin, Sandy Barr, and Joe Galijatovic.

He is survived by his loving mother, Stacy Ghere and step-father, Patrick Ghere; father, Daniel Ervin and step-mother, Christina Ervin; his siblings, Jacob Ervin and wife, Katelynd Ervin, Riley Ghere, Olivia Ghere, Noah Ghere, Destiny Ervin, Daniel Ervin, and Devin Ervin; his grandparents, Cynthia Somlay and Joanne Galijatovic; his niece, Seilah Ervin; loving girlfriend, Hannah Collins; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will all miss him deeply and carry his memory forward.

Life will not be the same without our JoJo, ChicagoJoee!
