Joseph Robert Fairburn

Joseph Robert Fairburn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 87. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sallie Amelia Fussell Fairburn, his daughter, Bridget Rene Fairburn, his son-in-law, Gregory Lionel Sharp, his parents, Joseph Mire Fairburn and Bertha Thompson Fairburn, and his sisters, Ruby Fairburn, Cora Latino, Ella Fitzmorris, Edna Jenkins, Erma McDaniel, and Myrtis Loyd. He is survived by his children, Jo Anne Fairburn Sharp, Robert Kevin Fairburn, and Lori Amelia Fairburn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brett Sharp (Ashley), Bobby Sharp (Crystal), Chris Fairburn (Sydney), Dustin Fairburn, Ashlee Fairburn, and Dakota Corkern, and his great-grandchildren, Bryton Sharp, Brylie Sharp, Carleigh Sharp, Scarlett Sharp, and Karson Milton.

Born on October 13, 1938, Joseph lived a life defined by hard work and his love of family and friends. A skilled welder by trade, Joseph built a career working offshore that took him to many corners of the world. His dedication to his craft and his work ethic left an enduring legacy of determination and expertise.

Throughout his life, Joseph found great joy in bird hunting and racing pigeons-hobbies that reflected his deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors. He also had a passion for landscaping and flowers, using his green thumb to create beauty wherever he went. In recent years, every Friday was spent with his nephew, Ronnie, searching for the place with the best fried fish.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 12:00 pm at E J Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA and the visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time.

Interment will follow in Blackwell Cemetery in Folsom, LA.
