Joseph J. “Joe” Farrell, age 60, of Media, PA, passed away on January 30, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the beloved son of Anne M. “Nancy” (nee McCrossin) and the late Joseph J. Farrell.
Joe attended Cardinal O'Hara High School, where he laid the foundation for his future career as a Steam Fitter. He embraced his work with enthusiasm and dedication throughout his life, leaving behind a commendable legacy in Local 420.
Described as caring, trustworthy, genuine, resourceful yet stubborn and hardworking, Joe was respected and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He demonstrated unwavering commitment to his craft and consistently went above and beyond to ensure the completion of every project he undertook.
Outside of work, Joe had a variety of interests that brought him joy and enriched his life. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed using his do-it-yourself skills to care for his home. Listening to music, especially the blues, provided solace and inspiration during his leisure time. Animals held a special place in Joseph's heart, particularly his faithful dog Freddy. Additionally, he valued maintaining close connections with childhood friends and reveled in their company. As a rowdy Philadelphia sports fan, Joe passionately supported local teams through their ups and downs. He also found pleasure in reading Sports Illustrated and expanding his knowledge of sports.
Joe’s last act of kindness was donating his cornea to restore eyesight to two recipients in need.
Joseph was the loving brother of Anne Marie Lane (Brad), Michael P. Farrell (Roseann), and Kathleen Farrell; caring uncle of Ryan Lane (Michelle), Tara Sears (Nick), and Katie Lane; adoring great-uncle of Henry, Grant, and Finn. Also survived by his dog “Freddy” whom he loved so much.
