Joseph John Finnell

Jack Finnell (Joseph John Finnell III) of Hayes, VA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 23, 2025 at the age of 71. Jack was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on March 22,1954 to Joseph J. Finnell Jr. and Mildred Sullivan Finnell. Jack spent his career working in both the construction and manufacturing industries, retiring in 2022 as Director of Sales for DS Containers. Jack enjoyed traveling with his family, reading and working outside. He was a loving husband, a caring and proud father, but most importantly he loved being a grandfather to his five grandchildren - "Papa." Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years Karen; daughter Katie and her husband Daniel Abresch of San Andreas, California; son Matthew and his wife Katy Finnell of Mt. Airy, Maryland; and five grandchildren, McKenzie, Hayden, Rory, Jacob and Harper. The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Homes on Monday May 5th from 9:00AM - 10:30AM - 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Followed by a mass at 11:00AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church - 1125 St. Michaels Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In memory of Jack, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
