JOSEPH WILLIAM FOX

FOX, JOSEPH WILLIAM 74 - of Cape May and formerly of Pompton Plains passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in the comfort of his home with his family at his side. Joe was born in Newark to the late Joseph and Anna Fox on December 14, 1936. He has been a resident of Cape May since 1985 after moving here from the North Jersey area. Joe served honorably with the N.J. Army National Guard. He enjoyed a 33 year career with the NJ Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1987 from their Freehold Office. Joe and his late wife formerly owned the Victorian Lace Inn Bed & Breakfast, Cape May. He loved living in the Cape May Community, where he proudly served as City Council Member; Chairman of the Cape May Housing Authority and with the Cape May Fire Police. He was a member of the Cape May Kiwanis Club; Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Our Lady Star of the Sea Church where he was an usher. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen; his sisters and one brother. Joe will be missed by his loving family which includes his wife, Jeannette (nee Collins); children, Joe Jr. (and Lea), Deb (and Chris) Solomita, Tim (and Diane), Pete, and Jake (and Melanie); stepdaughter, Barbara Caldwell; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His viewings will take place on Tuesday (July 5th) from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington Street, Cape May. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30am in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May. There will not be a viewing on Wednesday morning. Interment will be private.
