Joseph W. Gamble Sr., age 97, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph (Jay) W. Gamble Sr. was born on March 26, 1928, in Seymour, Tennessee. He was the seventh of nine children born to Joseph Henry Gamble and Ethel Penelope (Wolfe) Gamble.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Jolene B. Gamble. Together, they have two sons, Joey Gamble (Rachel) and Todd Gamble (Joanie). Jay's siblings included Murrell Gamble, Estelle Ownby, Edith Garner, Ruth Sims, Reba Duggan, Dick Gamble, Jack Gamble, and June Roberts.

The Gamble family has grown to include seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Their grandchildren are Taryn, Mara, Trey, Mason, Dawson, Chelsea, Nicci, and great-grandchildren Declan and Jade.

Following his military service in both the Navy and the Army, Jay married Jolene Bryan. The couple began their life together in Colonial Heights, Virginia, before later moving to Knoxville, TN. Jay worked at the Knoxville Utility Board for 25 years, where he completed his career as a foreman overseeing linemen crews.

The Gambles were active members of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN (40 years). After moving to Medina, TN, they joined First Baptist Church, where they have been members for over 20 years.

In his leisure time, Jay enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and spending time with his family.

Funeral services for Mr. Jay will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 in the chapel of Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home in Medina with Bro. Randy Pool officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Hopewell Cemetery near Medina. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 5 P.M. till 8 P.M. and again on Thursday one hour prior to service time.

Pallbearers to serve are: Mason Gamble, Dawson Gamble, Paul Spencer, Jeff Graves, William Eddings,Bubba Parrett.
