Joseph Griffith Obituary
Joseph E. Griffith, 82 of Front Royal, VA passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 peacefully at home.
Joe was born in 1938 in Bristersburg, VA to the late John and Susan (Cox) Griffith. He was a man of Christian Faith, a very proud Veteran and American Legion Member. Joe served in the United States Navy. He was a self-proclaimed defensive driver whose outlook on life was "whatever it's gonna be, it's gonna be, so deal with it."
Joe married Barbara Heflin on March 28, 1969 in Montgomery County, MD.
Surviving with his wife Barbara, are his daughters, Edith Cheeseman (Ken) of Modesto, CA, Ellen Sandy (David) of Stephens City, VA, DeLena Mabus (William) of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Brynn, Jeremy (Susan), Jamie (Rickey), David, Jr. (Kayla), Michale (James), Jessica (Jay), Jonathan (Ashleigh), Megan (Tango), Amy (Robert) and Chris (Wendy); 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Yarbough (Eddie) of Nokesville, VA and Virginia Hillen (Sam) of Pittsburgh, PA; many nieces and nephews; and two special sisters-in-law, Betty and Margie.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeff Griffith; daughter, Debra Carter; sister, Frances Powers and brother, Thomas Griffith.
A visitation will be at 12pm with a funeral service following at 1pm, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601 or American Legion, Post 21, 1730 Berryville Pike, Winchester, VA 22603.
