Joseph Gulino Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rouse Funeral Home on Dec. 13, 2025.
Joseph Gulino
January 13, 1964 – December 10, 2025
Grifton-Joseph Salvatore Gulino, 61, left a void in the hearts of many as he departed this life for his heavenly home on December 10, 2025. Joe was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Salvatore Joseph Gulino and Eunice Louise Fonseca Gulino on January 13, 1964. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Gulino.
Joe faithfully served in the United States Navy for four years before continuing his service to the community as a police officer with the Kinston Police Department. He was a dedicated public servant for twenty-five years until his retirement.
An exceptional cook, Joe's Italian heritage shone through in every dish he made. Though his spice level was a bit high for some family members, his food was always unmatched in flavor. At family gatherings, everyone eagerly awaited his superb baked beans.
Joe was happiest on the water with a fishing pole in hand. Whether at a local creek, on a pier, or out on a boat, he cherished every moment spent fishing. The camaraderie of bringing along friends, his brothers-in-law, or his nephew made each trip even more enjoyable.
Always on the hunt for a good bargain, Joe could find a deal whether he needed the item or not. For him, the thrill of the purchase was half the fun, and he loved sharing his finds, often gifting his family with items he had picked up.
After joining the Radford family twelve years ago through his marriage to Terri, Joe found his greatest joy in spending time with them. From birthdays to holidays, every gathering was special. Not one to seek the spotlight, he preferred to sit back and take in the love, humor, and fellowship of his extended family.
Christmas held a special place in Joe's heart. His favorite decoration-the Christmas tree-sat beside his chair year after year. If it were up to him, the tree might have stayed up all year long; he treasured the twinkling lights brightening an otherwise dimly lit room.
Introduced to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, by Terri, the two enjoyed many trips there and looked forward to the shows and shops they could explore. Though they loved traveling, time at home was just as precious. Days spent with his loving cat, Ollie, often snuggled under a blanket together, regularly ended with a home-cooked meal he prepared daily to enjoy with Terri. Quiet evenings at home may have been the moments he cherished most.
To his family, Joe was a gentle giant. He was quiet, loyal, and ever loving. They were his greatest blessing, and without a doubt, they were equally blessed to have him in their lives.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at La Grange Church of God with Pastor Arnold Ball and Rev. Michael Ball officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service at the church.
Joe is survived by his dearly loved wife, Terri Radford Gulino; sisters, Maggie Gulino and Janet Parisi (Dave); mother-in-law, Faye Radford; sister-in-law, Sandra Ball (Michael); brothers-in-law, Chris Radford (Vanessa) and Jeffrey Radford; nieces and nephew, Brianna Xiques (Nick), Hannah Ball, Parker Ball, and Samantha Gulino; special friend, Scott Batchelor; his faithful and loving cat, Ollie; along with many special friends and former co-workers.
Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Joe's memory to La Grange Church of God, PO Box 218, La Grange, NC 28551. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
