Joseph M. "Joe" Halaburda

Joseph Michael Halaburda, 82, Korn Krest section of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully Sunday August 31, 2025 at Lakewood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Sheatown.
Born March 2, 1943 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John and Sophie Ciegelski Halaburda.
Joe was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot and Trion Industries. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and later the Army Reserves where he dedicated 23 years to honorable service. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching movies, reading comic books and toy collecting.
Joe was a kind soul who had a smile for everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Brian Halaburda.
Surviving is his loving wife, the former, Annette DeMorat, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage; his daughter, Danise Carne; grandchildren, Steffani Atkinson, Alexis Halaburda, and Sarah Carne; great-grandchildren, Skylar and Nicholas; sisters-in-law, Paulette Anselmi, and Holly Krubitzer; brother-in-law, Michael-Paul Krubitzer and wife, Carrie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by his beloved cat, Flash Gordon.
The family wishes to thank all those involved in Joe's care over the last few years at Lakewood with special thanks to Donna Kaufer and Mr. Ken.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with Pastor Wayne Wolfe, of First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, officiating.
Friends and family are invited for visitation Sunday from noon until the time of the service. To honor Joe, the family suggests wearing your favorite Marvel character shirt.
