Joseph "Joe" Dominic Delaney Jr.
January 27, 1969 – March 16, 2025
Joseph Dominic Delaney Jr., affectionately known as Joe, passed away on March 16, 2025, in Spartanburg, SC, at the age of 56. Born on January 27, 1969, in Nashville, TN, Joe lived a life filled with passion, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
He was the beloved son of Patricia Anne Ernst and Joseph Dominic Delaney Sr., who, along with his wife Sandy Delaney, continue to cherish his memory. Joe was a devoted brother to his older sister, Shannon James (Patrick), and his younger brothers, Ryan Delaney (Julie) and Brendan Delaney (Maggie). He was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Joe shared 28 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Katie Delaney. Together, they built a beautiful family and raised three children: Joseph Delaney III (Taylor), Kennedy Delaney, and Will Delaney. His greatest joy in life was being a devoted husband and father, always supporting his children with pride and love.
Joe was a 1987 graduate of Spartanburg High School and a 1991 graduate of The University of South Carolina. He was a dedicated supporter of Spartanburg High School athletics and an active member of the Spartanburg High School Booster Club. His passion for the Viking community and local sports was unmatched, and he took great pride in encouraging young athletes. Joe was a die-hard Gamecocks fan and was passionate about Gamecock sports, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his team. He was a proud brother of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, South Carolina Delta Chapter, where he formed lifelong friendships and embraced the spirit of brotherhood.
Joe had a successful career as a National Accounts Manager for Sharp Business Systems, where his charisma and ability to connect with others made him highly respected in his field.
Joe was known for his charismatic personality, sharp sense of humor, and love for storytelling. He cherished reminiscing about fond memories, sharing laughs with family and friends, and spending time on his backyard deck, which became a nightly tradition of togetherness. He lived his life with enthusiasm, always putting family first and ensuring that every moment was filled with joy and laughter.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg, SC. A visitation will take place in the Narthex of the church at 9:30 AM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a place that held great significance in Joe’s life.
Joe Delaney Jr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family, friends, and his community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
