Joseph Leo (Joey, Joe Joe) Neuner, 67, formerly of Rich Fountain, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at SSM Health - St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, surrounded by members of his family.
He was born November 15, 1957, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the sixth of thirteen children to Hubert and Evelyn (Luecke) Neuner. For the past eleven years, he has been a resident of Jefferson City Manor after moving from Bismarck, Missouri, in 2014.
Joey was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Rich Fountain. He enjoyed listening to music and singing, especially Christmas songs. Other favorites were the Popeye cartoons, RC Cola, and anything chocolate, especially M & M’s. He was mesmerized by the movement of water at the family pond and the nearby Swan Creek.
Survivors include eleven siblings: Jerry Neuner of Sedalia, Linda Neuner (friend Ted Bethmann) of Rich Fountain, Tom (Charlotte) Neuner of Linn, Mary Ann (Dennis) Stegeman of Holts Summit, Steve (Diane) Neuner of Linn, Bernie (Vicky) Neuner of Linn, Chip Neuner of Linn, Ted (Debi) Neuner of Linn, Becky (Sam) Wekenborg of Taos, Ebby Neuner of Jefferson City, Bob (Teta) Neuner of Holts Summit, and a sister-in-law Holly Neuner of Linn; nieces and nephews: Nathan (Keaton) Neuner, Megan (Brett) Lake, Grace Neuner, Tommy (Lauren) Neuner, Emily (Brian) Talken, Ryan (friend Jenn) Stegeman, Patrick Stegeman, Sam Stegeman, Adam Stegeman, Tara (Alex) Stephens, Brittany (Bryce) Mebruer, Zach (Kennedy) Neuner, Ben (Kelly) Neuner, Nick (Melyssa) Neuner, Hannah (Jordan) Sallin, Zeb (Olivia) Neuner, Grant (friend Claire) Neuner, Emma (fiancé Chris Juhnke) Neuner, Leo (friend Kenadie) Neuner, Anna (friend Kaden) Wekenborg, and Casey (Joey) Trent; 26 great nieces and nephews and 3 more on the way
He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother Dan Neuner, nieces Lindsay Neuner and Kaydence Stegeman, and nephew William Neuner.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 2, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rich Fountain, with Father William Debo as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.
