Joseph Mitchell Jordan, age 82, died on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Born October 18, 1942, in York PA., Mitch was a son of Joseph and Hilda Jordan (Payne).

Mitch is survived by wife Lousia Jordan; Son, Ross Jordan and his wife Deidre, Washington Crossing PA.; Sister JoAnne McElwain and husband; as well as his only Grandson Daniel Jordan. He is preceded in death by Brother Samuel Jordan and son David Mitchell Jordan.

Mitch attended Lieb's one room schoolhouse and graduated from Kennard Dale High School in1960. He received an undergraduate degree in Education from West Chester University in 1964 and completed Masters degree from Towson University.

Mitch married Louisa December 26, 1964, in Stewartstown, PA who he met when attending West Chester University. Raised two sons in Stewartstown, PA.

He started teaching in September 1964 and in Joppatowne, MD and retired from Harford County MD (North Harford Middle School) in 2001. Mitch spent Thirty-Seven (37) years of teaching American History to the kids of Harford County.

Mitch moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and started working (again) the bag drop at the Tradition Club in Pawleys Island, SC. This lasted 22 years.

Mitch was an avid golfer having traveled the US, Scotland and Ireland on his adventures. Many of these places with Louisa. She gifted him a trip to Scotland in 1993 to St. Andrews and life was never the same again. This trip led to a love of Scotland and subsequent trips to it's great golf courses. Mitch would read as many books as he could find, completed crossword puzzles daily and was a trivia wizard. He continued to play golf until his last days. Mitch had 9 holes in one during his long love of the game.

Celebrations of Mitch's life will be held in Myrtle Beach, SC and York County PA in the near future. Donations in Mitch's name can be made to the Harford County Library System or your nearest animal shelter. He was a fond lover of cats.

He was loved, respected and will be missed.
