Joseph Hubert Killewald passed away at age ninety-six on November 7, 2024, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Joe was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 2, 1928, the youngest son of Albert and Mary (Dec) Killewald’s six children. From a young age, he loved working with his hands and was an exceptional woodworker. After military service in the US Army Civil Engineers (1951-1953), Joe completed training as a carpenter and worked for general contractors until 1963. For the next 30 years, he worked as a union carpenter and locksmith in the General Motors Building.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 71 years, Madonna (Schmidt); daughters, Loraine Campbell and Jeanette Wareham; grandchildren, Eric Graczyk, Emily Campbell (Taras Berezowski), Marie Campbell (Justin Kappenman), Ellen Wareham (Josh Bloom); five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
On November 14, 2024, at 10:30AM, visitation to pay your last respects to Joe will be held at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, 771 Old Perch Rd, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309, followed by an 11:00AM Mass. Joe will be laid to rest in Guardian Angel Cemetery, 4701 N. Rochester Road, in Oakland Twp, following mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, which trains the next generation of skilled construction professionals, or Centrica Care Navigators (Hospice) in Kalamazoo Michigan.
