Joseph Killough Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapelwood Funeral Home - Nash on Nov. 3, 2024.
Joseph "Joe" Patrick Killough, aged 71, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2024. Born on July 30, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was the son of Patricia Ann Hall and Joseph Burns Killough. Joe was active in his church as a teenager, singing in the choir and playing music. After graduating high school, he pursued a Bachelor's Degree at Tyler University, where he was honored for the best painting during his freshman year, and later trained to become an offset pressman.
On June 14, 1996, Joe married Jill Killough in Texarkana, Texas. He served in the United States Army, earning various distinctions, including the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and a sharpshooter qualification badge with the M16 rifle.
Joe began his career in graphics at Brookshire's in 1970, and after 45 years, his work was honored by having some of his samples displayed in the Brookshire's Museum in Tyler, Texas. He later transitioned to teaching, impacting young lives at Westlawn Middle School and TISD High School, where he was recognized as Teacher of the Year, and later retired.
Throughout his life, Joe spent time doing what he loved most: playing guitar and drums, painting and drawing, collecting guns, fishing, boating, photography, computer design, and practicing silk screen and offset printing. His talents and passions left a legacy of creativity and dedication that will be dearly remembered by all who knew him.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Burns Killough and Patricia Ann Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Jill Killough; one sister, Charlotte; two daughters children, Jessica Williams and husband Richard Williams, and Haley Smith; five grandchildren, Clover, Juliet, Hanna, Nicholas, and Clay; and two relatives, Amy Mayhew and Jeremy Norrell.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Chapelwood Funeral Home – Nash, TX. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
