Most of his job experience was with the New York Air Brake in Watertown, where he worked as a machinist, tool grinder, technical writer and process engineer. Joe was a longtime volunteer for the Volunteer Transportation Center right up until the day he was no longer able to drive.
A brief marriage resulted in the birth of two wonderful sons, Rodney and Lee LaFave, whom he loved very much. Joe met his life partner, Patricia Stevens, 40 years ago and loves her dearly. He had two stepsons, George and Sean Stevens, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joe loved all his family very much.
