Joseph LoCurto Obituary
In loving memory of Joseph Charles LoCurto of Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on August 4, 2025 at Carmel Hills Assisted Living in Charlotte, NC.
Born to Peter LoCurto and Leonore Ricca on March 13, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, he is predeceased by his wife, Josephine, and his brother Vincent.
He is survived by his two children Joan Trautmann (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC and Thomas LoCurto (Donna) of Prospect, CT; grandchildren Jamie LoCurto (Jack Lu) of Bristol, CT; David Trautmann (Caroline) of Mill Valley, CA; Deanna Joshi (Neel) of Minnetonka, MN; and Sarah Dilbone (Eric) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joseph was a true patriot and a World War II veteran. In March of 1944, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served with honor in the United States Navy aboard the USS Vicksburg in the Pacific theater. After the war, he settled in Connecticut, and in 1951, he married Josephine Abbondandolo. He worked for his entire career as an engineer/surveyor for the city of Waterbury, CT. He loved woodworking, and his skill provided a host of toys and personalized furniture for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a man whose strength, wisdom, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Carmel Hills Assisted Living and the hospice team at VIA Health Partners. Their care and compassion during Joseph's final months was exceptional.
A private funeral and memorial service will be held in Connecticut at a later date.
