Joseph William Malcolm

Joseph William Malcolm, age 86 of Fort Run, Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday morning, September 1, 2023 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV. Born on August 12, 1937, near Moorefield, WV, he was a son of the late William Felix Malcolm and Blanche Catherine Whetzel Malcolm Delawder. A son, Bradley Kurt Malcolm, sisters, Wilma C. Malcolm and Daisy P. Henry and a brother, "Doug" Malcolm also preceded him in death. Joseph was the last member of his immediate family.
Joseph retired as a custodian for the Hardy County Courthouse after 15 years. Prior to his work for the county, for numerous years he had his own remodeling and siding business. An outdoorsman, he was truly an avid hunter, of not only animals but of bees as well. He enjoyed his garden every year and his bounty was shared with his family. His family said he was an inventor of things, always tinkering in his shop.
Surviving is loving wife of 65 years (August 30th), Esther Virginia Keplinger Malcolm; three sons, Marty (Joyce) Malcolm of Purgitsville, WV, Alex (Kim) Malcolm of Petersburg, WV and Terry (Heather) Malcolm of Winchester, VA; two daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Delawder of Radcliff, KY and Valerie (Dave) Cleary of Frederick, MD; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Walnut Grove Gardens, Route 55 near Moorefield with Pastor Jonathan Leininger officiant. Interment will follow.
