On Monday, February 16, 2026, Joseph Charles Mathieu passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home.

Charles was born November 25, 1947, to the late Nelson Joseph Mathieu and Rosanna Mathieu. He was drafted in the United States Army where he served two years. He spent much of his time with family and friends. He had a degree in welding and opened a welding shop near his home. He enjoyed working at the Petroleum Club, Evangeline Maid Bread, and help with homeless people baking bread.

Charles never married and no child was born.

Preceded in death by his father Nelson Mathieu and Rosanna Mathieu and Sister Mary Helen Mathieu. He also lived with Aunts Beaulla Gilbert, Oliva Gilbert both are decease and Uncles Alexson Mathieu, Wilson Mathieu, and Kent Mathieu. He leaves to mourn sixteen first cousins, Eva Dell Derouen, Jeanette Polite, Donald Matthews, Jacqueline Onezime, Rickey Matthews, Jimmy Matthews, Micheal Matthews, Agnes Guidry, Marylee Winn, Patricia Thomas, Lucille Charles, Genevieve Matthews, Alfreda Mathieu, Loann Moses, Paulette Mathieu, Ruth Thomas, Ruby Jean-Louis.
