Joseph Patrick McCartin of Frederick Living in Zieglerville and formerly of Reading passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. He was 80 years old. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Murphy) McCartin and the loving husband of the late Virginia B. McCartin for 49 years.

Joe worked many years at Saint Joseph's Hospital and later for the Department of Public Welfare. He earned his bachelor's degree from Lasalle University after his military service in the Army National Guard.

The only thing Joe loved more than spending time with the guys he grew up with was spending his time with his beloved Ginny. He enjoyed ball games and movies with his children and grandchildren. There was nothing he loved more than to make people laugh and he endeared himself to everyone who knew him.

He is survived his son, Daniel McCartin (Lisa) of Reading; daughter, Jennifer McCartin (Maribel Martinez) of San Francisco, CA; brother, George McCartin; sister, Margaret McCartin; grandchildren Nathan and Maira McCartin; many beloved nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Anna Mae O'Callaghan and Frances Szewczak.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605, on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11am. A visitation will be held in church from 10am-10:50am prior to Mass. Interment will immediately follow Mass in Gethsemane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's name are requested to the Lewy Body Association.

Kath and I were sad to learn of Joe´s passing. We can still remember Ginny and Joe´s wedding. I also think back to the many happy times in Germantown with all the cousins! I´ll never be able to see a Phillies game without thinking of Joe. He was such a fan. Rest in peace. You will be missed.
