John J. (Jack) Weber, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2025, at the age of 96. A man of deep faith and devotion to family, Jack lived a rich and joyous life, celebrated for his adventurous spirit, his incredible skills, and the constant rhythm of music that followed him.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Jack was the oldest of four children to Jacob and Emmy (Striberny) Weber. His love for music began early; he learned to play the accordion as a young boy and formed a popular wedding band with his brothers during his teenage years. This passion never faded - he continued to play for many years at a charismatic prayer group, family gatherings, and even led a singalong at his own 90th birthday party.
Jack graduated from Northeast High School and went on to become a skilled coppersmith, a craft he honed for over 40 years. His work took him across the country, from Philadelphia to Detroit, and even abroad for six months in Mexico City.
In 1947, Jack met the love of his life, Rita McKenna. They married on September 18, 1950, and together built a remarkable family with five children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Known affectionately to all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Poppy," Jack was the steadfast heart of his family. He showed his unwavering devotion by attending countless baptisms, birthdays, weddings, ball games, and recitals. For 50 years, he and Rita created a lifetime of memories until her passing in 2001.
Jack was famous for his ability to build or repair anything, a testament to his creative mind and hardworking hands. He brought his vision to life, building an addition on the family home that more than doubled its size, a vacation home in the Poconos, three boats, and a two-story, three-car garage that later became his sanctuary and workshop. He delighted in entertaining family and friends in his homes in Southampton and the Poconos.
After retirement, Jack and Rita embraced a life of adventure. They drove their motorhome cross-country multiple times, exploring many National Parks and traveling from Canada to Key West. His passport was just as well-used, taking him on international adventures to Mexico, England, Germany, and as far as Kenya and Tanzania. In his final years, he found a new passion building beautiful birdhouses and bird feeders in the very workshop he had built decades earlier.
A man of profound faith, Jack was a sixty-year member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Southampton and an active member of the music ministry. In his last six years, he enjoyed the loving care of his daughter Eileen and her husband Gary Cota, and his son Steve. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Grandview Hospice for their compassionate assistance during his final months.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, and his sister Anne (John) Grabowski. He is survived by a large and loving family who will carry his memory in their hearts: his brothers Tom (Barbara) Weber and Ade (Jean) Weber; his children John (Rosemary) Weber, Eileen (Gary) Cota, Steve Weber, Jeanne (Bob) Nguyen and Ken (Tricia) Weber; his grandchildren Jamie (Scott) Karges, Katie (Steve) Tucker, Mike Weber, Liz (Scott) Beslow, Eric (Kara) Cota, Chris (Colby) Cota, Michelle (Kevin) Moyer, Emily (Benny) Pinto, Jake (Callie) Weber and Rick Weber; his step grandchildren Kate and Lex Lobecker; and his great- grandchildren Vincent Jischke, Max Karges, Abby Karges, Jack Tucker, Zayda Cota, Titus Cota, Gracie Beslow, Hudson Tucker, Grace Cota, Elijah Beslow, Mercy Cota and Ada Weber. He also leaves behind over 100 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and their families.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Rd., Pennsburg, PA. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM.
