Joseph "Joe" McGetrick, age 74, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly December 15, 2024. He was born August 17, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late James and Mary McGetrick, whose values he carried forward in his own life. Joe lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unshakable sense of humor. Joe was a veteran, serving in the United States Army. He was known for his quick wit and was a jokester and a master of practical jokes, always ready to bring a smile to someone's face. Whether pulling off an elaborate prank of simply telling a story, Joe's humor was infectious, leaving everyone around him laughing and uplifted. Joe enjoyed fishing, finding peace and reflection in the stillness of the water. He also knew not to take life too seriously, always ready with a joke or a smile to lighten any mood.
Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Dee Ann McGetrick, whose marriage was built on love, laughter and a true partnership. He is also survived by two daughters, Amy Johnson and Ashley McGetrick, who will remember him as a supportive and entertaining father. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ashton Garriott, Allison Johnson and Aidan Johnson, who brought him endless joy and pride. Joe is also survived by his brothers, Pat and Tom McGetrick and his sister, Ann Dalton, all of whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
A memorial service and entombment will be Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 1:30 P.M. at Fayetteville National Cemetery, 1000 S. Lt. Col. Leroy Pond Avenue, Fayetteville, Arkansas 7270l. Arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale, Arkansas 72762.
