Joseph Medeiros, Jr. Obituary
He was the loving husband of Edith (Cordeiro) Medeiros, to whom he was married for 66 wonderful years; the two of them were inseparable.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph Medeiros and Evangelina (Viveiros) Medeiros.
When Joseph was young he worked at Shelburne Shirt, a leading American clothing manufacturer. He then joined the Fall River Army National Guard, where he was assigned to an artillery battery, and he and his team manned the howitzer gun ‘Born to Raise Hell’. Upon returning from the National Guard, his brother got him a job at a cutting edge factory, Cranston Print Works, where they specialized in rotary screen printing on fabric. He started as a bucket washer, then became a printer helper, printer, and finished his career as the print room Superintendent.
Along with his wife, Joseph was a member of the Romeo & Juliet Square Dancing Group and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Joseph Boer Council 4753. As members of the Wampanoag camping group, Joseph, his wife, and friends enjoyed traveling together on many outings. Joseph loved sports and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed hosting many parties in his yard and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son Joseph P. Medeiros (wife Jennifer), of Tiverton; his granddaughter Sarah V. Medeiros; and several nieces and nephews. He was the youngest of 8 children and was predeceased by his brothers and sisters.
His funeral will be held Saturday, May 11th, from the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St, Fall River, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, at St. Theresa Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton. Burial will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Calling hours will be held Friday evening, from 5 - 8 PM.
