Joseph E. Meger, 84 Joe E. Meger, 84of new Prague died December 7, 2011 at Mala Strana Health care center in New Prague. Joe was born on January 3, 1927 the son of John D and Veronica (Schiprett) Meger in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County. He was united in marriage to Bernice Laabs of Belle Plaine on June 26, 1951 at the Church of St. Wenceslaus in New Prague. The couple made their home on a farm west of Union Hill for 60 plus years and together raised 10 children. Joe farmed and in 1971 purchased the Henderson Meat Market and successfully ran it for many years until he retired in 1991. In retirement Joe tended to his chickens and his garden. He loved playing cards with family and friends, playing bingo, spending time with his family. Joe was an avid reader and was well versed on worldwide events. He also had a remarkable talent of predicting the weather and weather patterns. Christmas was a special time for him. Joe loved to watch the kids open presents and sit on Santa's lap. It brought a sparkle to his eye. Joe is survived by his wife 60 years Bernice. 10 children Marlene (Jeff) Radermacher of Phoenix, AZ, twin daughters Karen (Steve) Von Bank of New Prague, Kathy (Ron) Kocina of Montgomery, LaDonna (Charley) Mankowski of Rosemount, Darlene Jaycock of Cathedral City, CA. Steve (Laurie) Meger of Belle Plaine, Cinthia (Paul) Bisek of New Prague, Janet (Steve) Walker of Madison, SD Joe of New Prague, Sarah (Paul) Curley of Madison, SD. 29 Grandchildren and 43 Great-Grandchildren. Brothers Andrew Meger of Belle Plaine, Leonard Meger of Faribault and Ambrose of AZ. Sister Mary Ann Terewdo of New Prague and Sister-in-law Vergie Meger of Elk River, MN. Preceded in death by two grandchildren Joseph Michael and Michael Joseph, 3 brothers, 3 sisters.
