Joseph Milazzo Obituary

Joseph ("Joe") Salvatore Milazzo passed away on October 23, 2025, the day after his 91st birthday, surrounded in love by his daughters. Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania, Joe spent the last 46 years of his life in Anaheim, California - a place he grew to love and call home.

Joe was devoted to his family. He was married to his adoring wife, Anna Marie, for many years before she passed away almost six years ago. Together they built a loving home filled with warmth, laughter, and countless memories. She was the love of his life.

He is survived by his daughters Barbara Webright and Joanne Mizell, and their husbands John Webright and Gary Mizell; his grandson Cody Webright; his stepsons, David Spinney and Bill Spinney; and two grandchildren from his marriage to Anna Marie, Austin Spinney and Allison Rodriguez. Joe is also lovingly remembered by his nephew Sam Milazzo, great-nephew Jason Milazzo, great-niece Jen Kanehl, and nieces Alice Milazzo and Sue Doty. His youngest daughter Cathy sadly passed away early in life, and we know they are now reunited in Heaven.

Joe proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War. After his military service, he dedicated his life to education as a teacher in the Anaheim School District. He touched the lives of countless students over the years - not just through lessons, but through kindness, patience, and genuine care.

He was a man of community and connection. Joe was a longtime member of St. Norbert Catholic Church in Orange and found joy in faith and fellowship. He was also a member of the Long Beach Speakers Club, where he shared his love of words, humor, and storytelling. He enjoyed fellowship and service as a member of First Friday Friars club.

Outside of work, Joe had many passions. He loved to entertain and was always known as the most gracious and generous host. He was an avid tennis player well into his eighties and loved the energy and camaraderie of the game. He was also a voracious reader - finishing two or three books every week - always curious, always learning.

Some of Joe's happiest moments were spent right at home, sitting on his patio surrounded by friends and family, enjoying good conversation and a good cigar. He enjoyed a competitive game of Skip-Bo with family after dinner. Those simple, meaningful moments were what he treasured most.

Joe was known for his generosity, his thoughtfulness, and his gentle spirit. He had a nurturing heart and was always looking after others. His weekly breakfasts with lifelong friends were a cherished tradition that lasted decades, filled with laughter and stories that only grew better with time.

He was, in every sense, both a gentleman and a gentle man - kind, considerate, and full of quiet strength.

Though Joe will be deeply missed, his love, wisdom, and warmth will continue to live on in all who were lucky enough to call him family and friend.
