Funeral services celebrating the life of Joseph Wheeler (Joe) Mitchell, III, 76, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Chris Winterman officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until service time on Saturday in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Mr. Mitchell died May 10, 2023, at Ochsner’s LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA
Mr. Mitchell served in the US Coast Guard and was a member of First Methodist Church in West Monroe, LA. He was the former owner of Mitchell Welding Company and Co-Owner of Pit Stop Oil Change. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many hours hunting and fishing on Davis Island Kellogg Club and the Ouachita River. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Joe founded Breaux Joe’s Seasonings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler, and Hazel Mitchell.
Survivors: his wife of 39 years, Connie N. Mitchell; Sons, Jason Mitchell and his wife, Amanda and Cohn Moon and his wife, Stephanie; Daughter, Mandie Slocum and her husband, Dave; Grandchildren, Hampton and Hallie Mitchell, Reagan Dore’, Clara Moon and Brandon Collins; as well as numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Sandy Wylie, Seth Wylie, Scott Littleton, Hampton Mitchell, Lance Jackson, Josh Littleton, Jay Mitchell, and Reagan Dore’.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar (Rat) Townsend and Glynn Kiper.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
