Joseph Moorehead Obituary
Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He served with the 729th AirCraft Control and Warning Squadron. Joe was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. He served in the AF Reserve as a liaison officer for the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado for 16 years and obtained the rank of Major. He was awarded the National Defense Medal and Korean Medal.
Joe was employed by McKesson Drug Company for 35 years as a pharmaceutical representative. After retirement, Joe worked part time at MSU transportation services. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the MS State "M" Club. Joe loved MSU and was notorious for his life stories. He enjoyed traveling throughout the country. He always made others smile. Joe touched many hearts!
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Martin Moorehead. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Lewis of Brandon, MS; his daughter, Lynn Moorehead Rutledge (Philip) of Madison, MS; his sons, Jim B. Moorehead (Lynn) of Starkville, MS and Jack M. Moorehead (Kim) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandchildren, Mary Martin Guerieri, Mackenzie Moorehead (Mary), Josie Moorehead House (Bob), Ben Moorehead and Maris Moorehead Risinger (Brody); and great granddaughters, Nora Lynn and Mary Grace Guerieri; and great grandsons, Monroe and Jennings Moorehead and James House,V.
Visitation will be from 10:00am – 11:00am on Friday, December 27, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Starkville. Services will be at 11:00 am followed by a graveside service at Odd Fellows Cemetery on University Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Starkville.
The family would like to thank the staff of Montgomery Gardens Assisted Living Facility for their love and support. He loved you all!
