Napoleon - Joseph Patrick Moser, 67, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024, surrounded in a loving embrace by his family. Joe was born in Defiance, Ohio on July 24, 1957, the 7th of 12 children to Curtis and Carolyn (Ducatt) Moser. The first 10 years of his life were spent in Paulding, Ohio, before moving to Napoleon. On February 29, 1980, he married LeAnn (Spiess) Moser at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Joe was a graduate of Napoleon High School and Northwest State Community College. He was a talented carpenter and later became a construction superintendent. Two renovations Joe supervised earned Ohio Build Awards: Trinity Episcopal Church Nave Renewal and the historic Toledo Zoo Aquarium. He enjoyed these projects for their purpose and the people he met.
Joe was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing trips to Lake Erie and remote Canadian lakes, water-skiing on the Maumee River, kayaking area streams, and cycling country roads. He liked to prepare walleye fish fries, BLT sandwiches, and salsa with fresh tomatoes from his garden. He will be remembered for keeping extra boat motors on hand, telling his kids to check the oil on their cars, and showing his love by fixing whatever needed fixing.
Joe is survived by his wife, LeAnn; daughters Katelyn (Adam) Mock and Jessica (Ben) Warner; grandchildren Oliver, Carmen, Niles, and Sidney Mock, and Josephine, Gabriel, and Sebastian Warner; Father, Curtis Moser; and siblings Cynthia (Alfred) Dabrowski, Clement (Joan) Moser, C. Nicholas (Lynette) Moser, Lynne (Roger) Genter, Mary Eickhoff (John Safian), Paul (Luanne) Moser, Jim (Laurie) Moser, Angela (Joe) Dietrich, Gail (John) Ermer, and Martin (Karen) Moser. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Moser, infant brother, John, brother in-law, Jeff Eickhoff, infant niece, Abigail Genter and infant nephew, Christopher Moser.
Joe was a double-lung transplant recipient, affectionately known as "Papa Joe" by his grandkids, and "Joe Boat" among his dozens of nieces and nephews, whom he held close to his heart and who will dearly miss him. Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Friday, September 13, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church, Moser Road, Defiance on Saturday, September 14 at 11 a.m. A private interment will follow at the church cemetery.
