Joseph 'Bud' Patrick Mullaney Obituary Joseph 'Bud' Patrick Mullaney, Sr., 79, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by his wife and three children. Born in Red Bank, NJ on March 30, 1945, Bud was the youngest of Patrick and Catherine (Gahan) Mullaney's five sons. He will be eternally remembered as a visionary, a humanitarian, and a devout Catholic.
In 1964, Bud established Mullaney Tire & Car Care. Celebrating his 60th year in business brought him great pride and joy. He was heavily involved in the automotive industry and volunteered on many boards and associations. He served as president of the New Jersey Tire Dealers Association, on the Board of Directors of the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association and Tire Industry Association, and on the Brookdale Community College Advisory Committee on Automotive Technology.
Bud was a true, goodwill ambassador of his community; a past Grand Knight and member of the 4th degree of St. Joseph's Council #3402, Knights of Columbus, a committee chairperson for 30 years for the Boy Scouts of America, Matawan Troop #66, past president of the Advisory Board of Directors for St. John Vianney High School, leader of the former YMCA's Indian Guide Program, former committee member for Basilian Fathers Monastery in Matawan, a member of the former United Jersey Bank Board of Directors, a former councilman in Matawan, and an honorary life member of Matawan PBA #179.
His involvement with Bayshore Community Hospital demonstrated Bud's long-standing commitment to civic affairs. He served on the Board of Directors of Bayshore Community Hospital from 1979 until 2010, with a particular focus on senior citizen services, and held multiple appointments during his tenure; Finance Committee, Bio-ethics Committee, Investment Committee, Investigational Review Board, and Quality Improvement Committee, among others. For this unwavering dedication to community service, Bud was the recipient of the 2001 Humanitarian Recognition Award.
Buddy will be missed for his infectious smile, a gift of Irish gab, and his genuine enjoyment of being with his adoring family and friends. He tried but didn't succeed at traditional hobbies like hunting, golfing, fishing, and board games, quoted saying, "Being with people and helping people is my hobby.' No one was more willing to give of his time to his fellow man than Bud, living life by the Golden Rule set forth by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.'
It is only appropriate that Bud spent his final days at his beloved Pennsylvania log cabin, 'A Lil Bit O' Heaven Mullaney.'
Bud is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Ray, Jack, James, and Robert. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary (Conway), and cherished children and their spouses, Joseph Jr. and Shannon of Freehold, Michael and Christine of Matawan, and Meghan and Patrick Walker of South Carolina. Bud also leaves his adored grandchildren; Logan, Bennett, Morgan, and Brianna.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Bud's memory to his beloved healthcare team, Stamford Health's Heart and Vascular Institute, Cardiac Care - Stamford Hospital Foundation 3001 Summer Street, 2nd Floor Stamford,
