Joseph Anthony Muller ♥

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Muller, age 27, who left this world too soon. Joe will be remembered as a caring, compassionate person who cared deeply about others and was the first one to help people in need. Joe loved life to the fullest and had an infectious smile that all who knew him spoke of.

Growing up, Joe enjoyed soccer, fishing, being outdoors, golf, and making people laugh. Above all, he just wanted to be surrounded by the people he loved. As fate would have it, a soccer injury in high school helped him discover his musical talents. It was at this time that Joe taught himself how to play the guitar and he very quickly developed his skills impressing everyone with how well he could play. In addition to both the acoustic and electric guitars, Joe learned how to play the ukulele, keyboard, cajon, and most recently the bongos. With a little encouragement, Joe could do anything he put his mind to. One of the proudest moments Joe had was playing the guitar with his cousin Jon at his sister Marissa’s wedding.

Joe loved his music, especially the Grateful Dead. This love of music led him to Finger Lakes Community College where he played guitar in a jazz ensemble and earned his Associates Degree in Music Recording Technology. After FLCC, Joe went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Communications from SUNY Oneonta, where his first room on campus was in Sherman Hall, the dorm where his parents met. Joe successfully used the communication skills he learned at Oneonta in his latest job with Spectrum where he excelled as a customer service rep. He was recently promoted to a Lead position in the Spectrum Call Center, where he proudly earned multiple awards. Joe always had a strong work ethic. His first job in high school was at Leslie’s Pools. He later worked at the local Hannaford, Town of Niskayuna Highway Department, lifeguarded in the Disney College Program and landscaped in the summers before landing at Amazon and ultimately Spectrum.

Joe absolutely treasured his family and looked forward to family gatherings. His parents, Angela and Tony, loved him beyond compare and dedicated their lives to guiding and supporting him through all of life’s successes and challenges. Joe truly cherished being an uncle to his nephew, Theo, and proudly bragged about him to everyone in his life. Joe had a special relationship with his sisters, Lexie and Marissa. He knew they were always there for him in life and appreciated all they did for him over the years. Joe shared a bond with his brother in-law Teddy, a role model Joe respected so much. His cousins Joey and Jon were like brothers to Joe. He enjoyed the time they spent growing up together and always had a smile when he was with them. Joe also held special bonds with his Godparents, Uncle Tony and Aunt Jeanette, as well as his Uncle Charlie, and Aunt Jo Ann whose guidance and support he valued greatly. In addition to his family, Joe loved and appreciated his best friends Kelly, Garrett, and Caity with whom he shared many special times and who meant the world to him. Joe loved all of his aunts and uncles, his Pop Pop, Long Island cousins, and his enormous extended family who held a special place in his heart.

Joe's absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, his musical talents, and his ability to bring joy to others will continue to inspire all who knew him.

The family will be having a small private service for immediate family and close friends.
