Joseph P. Mullin, age 94, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on September 7, 1930, he was a son of the late Leo and Mary (McGlynn) Mullin. Joseph was a graduate of Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre with the class of 1948. He proudly served in the United States Army as a drill sergeant for the 11 Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. Joseph made his career as an engineer at Diamond State Telephone, retiring after 36 years.
A man of faith, Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church since 1963. He enjoyed serving his community as a past president of his local Civic Association, as well as a past president of the Kiwanis Club of New Castle, and former member of the Knights of Columbus. Joseph was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the American Legion. Above all, he was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Mullin, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie T. (Harkins) Mullin; sons, Joseph P. Mullin, Jr. (Angeline) and Patrick M. Mullin (Stacy); grandchildren, Theresa Mullin, Margaret Mullin, Evan Mullin, Peyton Mullin, and Maura Mullin; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:15 am until 11:15 am on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713 or online by clicking here.
