Joseph "Joey" Nevils

1977 - 2025

Augusta, GA – Joseph Ronald Nevils, Sr., affectionately known as "Joey" or "Bam," 48, entered into rest on September 21, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025, in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Taylor Tom officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 PM.

Bam was born in Augusta and grew up in National Hills. He started playing baseball at the West Augusta Little League, where he made lifelong friends. He went on to play baseball for Westside High School and graduated in 1995. For the last 10 years, Bam worked with Automatic Fire Systems, and recently with Peachtree Pest Control.

What Bam loved most was spending time with his family and friends, whether on the golf course or at the annual family Christmas party. He was the life of the party, always full of jokes and pranks, and his presence will be dearly missed. Family gatherings will never be the same without him.

Just this past Friday, Bam was excitedly planning a family vacation to Daytona Beach, a tradition started by his mama and daddy when he was a baby. He loved all four of his children deeply and was looking forward to carrying on that tradition with them. His daddy once wrote that Bam "had a heart as big as Santa had toys," and those who knew him would agree.

Bam is survived by his children, Taylor Tant, Joey Nevils, Jr., Lily Nevils, and Paisley Nevils; his mother, Debbie Nevils Farr; his sisters, Christie Nevils and Angie Nevils; his nieces, Mary Elizabeth Ferron and Mallory Miller; his nephews, Trace Brinson and Mason Miller; his great-niece, Gracie Brinson; his uncles, Joey Newsome (Debbie), Richard Nevils, Sr. (Selita), and Gene Nevils (Gail); his aunt, Teresa Quarles (Doug); and many cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Nevils; his stepfather, Pat Farr; his grandparents, J. Lester and Mary Alma Newsome, Carl and Martha Nevils; and his aunt, JoAnn Faulkner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Baker, Billy Kelly, Dwight Pope, John Ellis, Trace Brinson, Richard Nevils, Steve Johannsen, John Barksdale, Wesley Powell, Mike Carter, Brenner Ham, Brandon Mitchem, Ryan Nevils, Taylor Tom, David Burdette and Herb Gilstrap.
