Obituary of Joseph Michael Parker Jr.
Joseph Michael Parker Jr, 71, passed away on September 20, 2024. "Big Mike", as he was affectionately known by his friends and family, is survived by his brothers, David Parker and John Parker; sisters Joanna Parker Huddleston, Brenda Parker Schoppa (Gilbert), Suzanne Parker Andriacco; nephew, Joseph Andriacco (Shanna); great nephews Tyler and Landon Andriacco, and a host of many other family and friends.
Mike was an exceptional athlete throughout his life. He played baseball, softball, and was a bowler, surfer, and scuba diver. He also enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar. He would record many tapes thru the years and send to mama. We all enjoyed listening to his tapes. Loved his sports and always cheering on his favorite football team, The 49ers. Mike was strong in his faith and loved the Lord. He was a great host to all family and friends who were kind enough to stop by and visit.
Mike was lucky enough to live in Maui for over 30 years but was always a true Texan at heart. Maui was like his second home. Mike and Hal, his cousin and best friend, made a lifetime of memories together on Maui. Michael made so many friends, and they are like family to all of us. Mike's family and friends had opportunities to visit him. They were guaranteed a good time and forever memories. He knew a lot about the island and stories he learned from his local friends.
He preferred to stay busy and never slowed down. He was a master of skills at whatever he did. You could find him trimming trees all over the island, working at the dairy, or on a construction job. Mike will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services for Mike will be held at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland on Friday, October 4, 2024. Mike's family will receive guests from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, with a Rosary to be recited at 2:30 pm, and the service to commence at 3:00 pm.
