Joseph B. Pasterick

Joseph B. Pasterick, 80, of Spring Church, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. Born March 19, 1945, in Vandergrift, he was the son of the late Thomas and Pearl (Dudenas) Pasterick. Joe was a proud veteran, having served as a captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a supervisor at Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company (later Consol Energy) for 28 years. While there, Joe served as a member of the mine rescue team, participating in numerous rescue and recovery operations. Upon his retirement from Consol Energy, he became an independent truck driver, hauling steel and manufacturing materials across the mid-Atlantic. He retired permanently in 2012. Joe enjoyed boating, camping, woodworking, reading, and spending time with his five grandchildren and beloved dogs. Sophie, a cockapoo, was his most recent dog and the indisputable favorite, as she never left his side. Joe also loved military history and had a special interest in languages. He often spoke Vietnamese and Russian to entertain and confuse his family. During his retirement, Joe was a member of the Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed running Bingo Night and cooking for the fish fries held during Lent. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, John Pasterick; sister-in-law, Nancy Pasterick; brother, Stephen Pasterick; and brother-in-law, John "JT" Tomicek. Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda (Tomicek) Pasterick of Spring Church; daughter, Wendie Aston of Naples, FL; and grandchildren, Brooke, Harley, and Zander Aston; daughter, Tammy Pasterick (Jonathan Moats) of Earleville, MD; and grandchildren, Ethan and Morgan Moats. He is also survived by his brother, Richard "Dan" Pasterick of Apollo; sister, Susan (Jeffrey) Snyder of Irwin; sister-in-law, Beverly (Egley) Tomicek of Spring Church; two nieces; and one nephew.
