Joseph Perani Obituary
Joseph R. Perani born on February 21, 1947 in Gray, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2025, at the age of 78.
He was born one of four children in Kentucky and came to be raised by Joseph and Amelia Perani in Oakfield.
Joe was inducted into the United States Army on November 20, 1967 for maintenance training and served his country for 1 year and 11 months during the Vietnam War. Following his service he worked various jobs, including for a tile plant, a construction company and Peabody Coal Company; before eventually retiring from the Oxford Strip Mining Company. Joseph was an avid church member at McLuney Church.
He is survived by his step-daughters, Janet (Floyd) Kennedy, Connie Blackburn and Jeanette Alfman; his daughter-in-law, Rita Lipps; his brother, Burchell (Mary) Perani; his brothers, Billy Middleton, Jerry Middleton; his sister, Cordy Middleton; his grandchildren, Kim (Bill) Holcomb, Ken (Denise) Kennedy, Scott (Karman) Alfman, Jeff (Kerri) Alfman, Donna Reed, Makala (Travis) German, Josh (Lynn) Lipps and Adam Lipps; his great-grandchildren, Ashley (Zack) Hill, Chase (Lauren) Alfman, Chloe Alfman, Ethan (Lizzy) Alfman, Maddy Lane, Grant (Brook) Kennedy, Taylor (Troy) Sweeny, Lakyn German, Tanner German, Slade German, Amber Reed and Jessica Reed; as well as his nine great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Amelia Perani; his wife of 46 years, Norma Perani; his step-son, Earl Lipps and his sons-in-law, Butch Alfman and Jim Blackburn.
Friends and family are welcome to visit from 4-8:00 PM, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastors John Jividen and Darlene Kinney officiating. Joe will then be laid to rest in Iliff Cemetery next to his wife where fully military honors will be rendered.
The family would like to extend a thanks to all that visited Joe, his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. A special thank you to Genesis Hospice, especially his nurse, Crystal who helped so much with his care; as well as the folks at Luncheon Muncheon, your visits meant so much, thank you for taking the time.
