Funeral Mass for Joseph Aloysius Pott, Jr. of Annada, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO. Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Pott IV, Ethan Pott, Brandon Spies, Jeff Campbell, Josh Turner and Rick Boaz. Mr. Pott, 69, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home. Born July 20, 1944 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Joseph Aloysius and Wana Fay Kanouse Pott, Sr. He was united in marriage on November 9, 1963 in St. Louis to JoAnna Pizzo. He formerly owned Joe's Hauling in St. Ann, MO. He later married Carol Riffle on July 7, 1989 in Elsberry. He worked as a local truck driver for USF Holland, retiring on June 28, 2006. He was a member of Teamsters Local #600 in St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Wana Pott, Sr.; and his sister, Martha Cottner in 1980. Survivors include two sons: Joseph Pott, III and his wife, Donna, of Elsberry and Michael Pott and his companion, Michelle Duke, of Wright City, MO; one daughter, Lisa Spies of Elsberry; four grandchildren: Ethan Pott, Joseph Pott, Brandon Spies and Angelina Spies; and one great-grandchild, Payge Roper. He also leaves one sister, Mary Post of Lake St. Louis, MO; other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry and again on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
