Joseph Rimi

Joseph "Joey" Rimi, age 70, of Bay Shore, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Northeast Ohio.

Joey was a cherished and beloved father of Veronica (Timothy) O'Connor and Tammy (Gregory) Meholick, a devoted grandfather to Madison, Kennedy, Haley, and Aubrey and a loving brother to Elizabeth, Margaret, and Mark, and to the late James, Agnes, Michael, Veda, and Steven. He was also a dear Uncle and Great-Uncle to many who loved him deeply.

Joey proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976, later continuing his service in the Reserves for three more years. The pride and honor he carried from those years stayed with him throughout his life. After his military service, Joey applied his remarkable intelligence and talent to a successful career in construction. His craftsmanship and incredible gift with his hands made him highly sought after on every project; whether building new homes, crafting beautiful spiral staircases, or creating other unique and intricate structures. Known for his precision, creativity, and work ethic, Joey left a lasting mark on every site he worked on and earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Joey's life overflowed with kindness, generosity, and a deep love for everyone around him. His quick humor and gentle heart could light up any room, and his selflessness touched every life he crossed. He had a passion for cars and what he playfully called "useless information," loved shooting pool, and never passed up a good meal, especially when it meant sharing it with family. Some of his happiest moments were spent around the table, laughing and telling stories with those he loved most. Joey had a true gift for turning strangers into friends and for making everyone feel welcome.

In his final days, guided by love and protected by angels, Joey made the journey from New York to Ohio just to be close to his children; a lasting testament to his heart, devotion, and enduring strength. His warmth, laughter, and love will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.

To honor Joey's life, a Memorial Gathering will be held 10 AM - 11 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 19 E. Main Street (on the square), Hudson, Ohio 44236. A memorial service will begin at 11 AM, with a procession of honor and military inurnment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
