In Loving Memory of Margaret "Peggy" Spaulding (née Holibaugh)
October 15, 1937 - October 24, 2025
With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Margaret "Peggy" Spaulding, age 88, of
Hudson, Ohio, who passed away peacefully at home, with her son by her side, on Friday, October 24, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 15, 1937 to the late Paul and Florence (Dixon) Holibaugh, Peggy lived a life defined by devotion - to her family, to pursuing her passion for reading and writing, and to the many quiet ways she cared for the world around her.
Peggy is preceded in death by her former husband, Gerald Steven Spaulding, her brother, Robert Holibaugh, her niece, Karen (Holibaugh) Eaton, and her brother-in-law Dennis Spaulding. She leaves behind two loving sons, David (Susan) Spaulding of Strongsville and Gerald (Lisa) Spaulding of Hudson; five cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan) Franzen, Amanda (Justin) Cajka, Patrick (Amber) Spaulding, Sarah (Kody) Kettle, and Colin (Samantha) Spaulding; and nine treasured great-grandchildren, with a tenth soon to arrive. She is also survived by her dear sister Holly (Gordon) Johnson, and sisters-in-law Phyllis Holibaugh, Joan (Martin) Parks, and Connie Spaulding.
A graduate of Lakewood High School (Class of 1955) and Ohio University (Class of 1959), Peggy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education and spent her life nurturing and caring for others while supporting her family. For the last 27 years, she made her home with her son Gerald and his family, where her warmth, humor, storytelling, and grace filled every room.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family, who will forever carry her spirit forward. Her legacy lives in the laughter she shared, the wisdom she offered, and the love she poured into every relationship.
A proud Anglophile with a lifelong passion for British and World War II history, Peggy was an avid reader whose curiosity never faded. She was also a gifted writer, authoring several children's short stories and two novels - a creative legacy that her family will forever treasure. Quietly generous, Peggy supported more than a dozen charitable organizations monthly, believing that even small acts of kindness could make a meaningful difference.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Khaled Hassan, MD, and the care team at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center, as well as Marie Hickey, CNP, of UH Western Reserve Family Practice Physicians. Their exceptional skill, compassion, and kindness brought Peggy comfort, dignity, and peace throughout her journey. The family also wishes to thank Heather Cruz, RN, and Detra Morrison of Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care for their tender support, comfort, and guidance during her final days. Their dedication and gentle presence meant the world to Peggy and her family.
