Joseph Sanders, a devoted father, brother, and community leader, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, in Springfield, Massachusetts, after a period of declining health. Born on September 29, 1958, to the late Joseph Sanders and Gladys Yeboah, Joe's life was marked by dedication to family, community, and service.
Raised in Springfield by Annabelle Maxwell, Joe graduated from Commerce High School in Springfield, where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and commitment. Known for his warm spirit and generous heart, Joe was an active and beloved member of his community. He dedicated much of his life to working with youth, serving as the Head of Transportation for the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield. His passion for mentoring young people extended to coaching the basketball team at New Leadership School, where he inspired many with his guidance and encouragement.
Joe's work ethic and kindness touched many lives. He held various jobs throughout his life, always eager to lend a helping hand and make a positive impact wherever he could. His love for his community and his family was evident in all he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Sanders and Gladys Yeboah, his mother Annabelle Maxwell, brothers Bernard Chase and Anthony Hank Privette, and sister Gwendolyn A. Privette.
Joseph leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory deeply: his son Joseph Sanders Jr., sister Natalie Privette, brothers Reggie Privette, Gregory Privette, Anthony Graham, and Latrise Graham, granddaughter Jolie A. Sanders, grandsons Joseph Sanders III and Deion Sanders, as well as nieces and nephews Angelo Privette, Jamar Privette, Keshawna Privette, Carlton Privette, Cecil Privette, Nathan Privette, Terresa Privette, Mark Privette, and many close family and friends.
