Maurise Bernard "Reeci" McCullough-Naylor June 14, 1986 – October 18, 2025
Maurise Bernard "Reeci" McCullough-Naylor was born on June 14, 1986, in
Springfield, Massachusetts, to Veronica McCullough-Lytle (Franklin Lytle) and Louis Bernard Naylor (Catherine Naylor). He was raised and spent his life in Springfield, where he touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Maurise was a proud graduate of Springfield Academy for Excellence, class of 2008 and later built a dedicated career as a Car Maintenance Technician for Amtrak. His work ethic, attention to detail, and quiet determination reflected the kind of man he was-steady, humble, and reliable.
Beyond his career, Maurise's true passions were rooted in creativity, family, and simple joys. He had a gift for freehand drawing, sketching moments and ideas straight from the heart. He was also a lover of food-always open to trying new dishes and enjoying good meals with great company. Whether riding his bike, spending time outdoors, or sharpening his skills at the range, Maurise found peace in life's rhythm and balance.
Above all, he cherished being a father to his beloved sons, Maurise Bernard McCullough Jr. and Nicholas Zahir McCullough. They were the light of his life and the reflection of his greatest love.
Maurise will be remembered for his kind heart, laid-back spirit, and quiet strength. His gentle nature and ready smile brought comfort to those around him. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his memory will live on through the love he gave so freely.
Maurise was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bennie Davis, his paternal grandparents, Johnnie and Catherine Naylor, and his first-born nephew, Amari McCullough.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Veronica McCullough-Lytle (Franklin Lytle); his father, Louis Bernard Naylor (Catherine Naylor); his sons, Maurise Jr. and Nicholas ; his grandmother, Beulah Davis; his brothers, Christopher McCullough, Cardin Naylor, and bonus brothers Dayvon Jowers and Delon Battle; his sisters, Vanessa Naylor and Yarah Naylor; bonus sisters Shaquan Battle and Lakya Hoffler and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his best friends, Trevor L. Hickson Jr. (cousin), Prettlo Heartley lll, Justin Jimenez and all the dear friends who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
Though his time on earth was too short, Maurise's love, laughter, and light will forever remain, drawn in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Mother's Reflection: To my son, my Recci (Mo). Tears fall from my eyes just writing this, my sweet baby. Every day you would say, "Momma, did I tell you I love you today?" You are my hero, so courageous and so humble. I love you more today than yesterday. Never complaining, always smiling, even in pain. So proud you picked me to be your momma. Get your rest, son. I now carry the torch in your name, always and forever, until we meet again. Momma
