He is preceded in death by his father, Michael James, Jr. Joseph is survived by his mother, Verdie; his sister, Sonya (Stephen) Ferguson; his brother, Michael James III; his aunts and uncles: Rose Rock, Carol Davis, Sue (Jim) Shade, Wayne (Becca) Davis and Shirley Moss; his niece, Melissa DeGuia; his great-nieces: Airis and Zoey Lynn; his great-nephew, J.J.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio, with a Time of Sharing to follow at 1:00 p.m.
The family has asked that any memorials be donated to the American Diabetes Association.
