Joseph P. Schoenlein age 63 of St. Rose passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. Joe is also survived by 12 dearly loved grandchildren: Eli, Paige, Grady, and Tate Stachler, Aberdeen and Sullivan Roffey, Mollie, Cole, and Jack Yenrick, Leah and Allen Schoenlein, and Zella Schoenlein. Other surviving family members include eight siblings and their spouses: Paul & Phyllis Schoenlein, Barb & Bill Ahrens, Connie & Ted Schmitmeyer, Bill & Judy Schoenlein, Betty & Bob Broering, Tom & Helen Schoenlein, Tony Schoenlein, Mary & Ken Larger, and Linda Schoenlein; as well as his mother-in-law, Peggy Wheeler, and in-laws: Terry & Darla Seibert, Kerry & Jim Hunter, Barry & Trisha Wheeler, Denise & Mike Bowling, and Karen Seibert.

Joe was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, in St. Rose, and was a lifelong farmer. He worked for Frank Bomholt & Sons for many years, and later worked for Mercer Landmark. Joe was a simple man who had little need for worldly possessions, and always enjoyed a good joke. His family always knew not to believe a word he said on April 1st! Joe loved his family, especially his grandchildren, with the time spent together on the family farm being his most favorite.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, December 21, 2024, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Friends and relation may call from 2 to 7 pm Friday, Dec. 20th, and from 9 to 10 am Saturday, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
