Brewster & Shea Funeral & Cremation Service - ManchesterJoseph “Lanny” Sendra, 88, resident of Mt. Tabor, VT, passed away on December 24, 2025.
Lanny was born on May 27, 1937 to the late Vincent & Mary (Stevens) Sendra in Danby, VT. He was one of twelve children. After his early education, he would meet the love of his life, Claudia Pike. The two would marry on February 2, 1961 in East Arlington, VT. They spent 64 years together before Lanny’s passing.
In his career, Lanny was a painter and worked on many houses in the Vermont area. In his spare time, Lanny thoroughly enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He and Claudia held a residence for 30 years on Prince Edward Island – taking in the breathtaking views of the ocean and lighthouses. They would also frequent Bar Harbor, ME for vacations. One of their last trips together was to the Mojave Valley in Arizona. Lanny and Claudia reveled in this experience.
Lanny also served in various offices at the Marble Lodge #76 beginning in 1969 as Junior Deacon and through the chairs to Senior Warden in 2009. Lanny was dedicated to the school lunch program, and a key supporter of Currier children’s programs. He joined the appendant body of the Scottish Rite – one of the oldest rites in Freemasonry, with origins dating back to the late 16th century. Lanny was very dedicated and always ready to support his Brothers for their different projects and take part in Degree work.
Lanny is survived by his wife, Claudia Sendra. His siblings, Harold Sendra, and Valentina Bird.
Lanny was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Mary Sendra. Brothers: Vincent Sendra II, Raymond Sendra, Edward Sendra, and Cecile Sendra. Sisters: Victoria, Josephine, Joyce, Gloria, and Maria.
Services will be held in the Spring of 2026 at the convenience of the family.
